[GreenKeys] Odd Print problems on ASR 33

Remember that the 32,33,38 Reader is not a TD in that it has no
distributor unlike other Teletype machines.
All of the contacts on the Keyboard, Reader, and Answer-Back mechanism
are in parallel. They only become serialized when the distributor
rotates.

The most common problem with these machines is CONTACT BOUNCE.
However, sometimes the wire contacts will come out of their plastic
guides.
A magnifying glass is helpful when examining the reader to look for
missing springs, etc. It is easier to see the contacts on the Answer-
Back
assembly and the Keyboard. Most, if not all, M32,33 keyboard repair
needs to be made with the unit mounted in the base pan. M38 is a bit
different.
Hope this helps.

P.S. ALWAYS make sure if you are working on a new (to you) 32 or 33 to
check to make sure the shipping washer and screw have been removed.
This is a screw that holds the typing unit down to the base pan. You
can feel it by running your hand under the base pan or look under the
typing unit code bars to be sure the hole in the frame is empty.
