[GreenKeys] Odd Print problems on ASR 33

Good stuff.  

Sometimes there are 3 shipping screws that hold the printer in, 1 easy one to locate in the middle front and 2 at the rear corners.  

Also sometimes 2 in the UCC-6.

Remember that the 32,33,38 Reader is not a TD in that it has no  
istributor unlike other Teletype machines.
ll of the contacts on the Keyboard, Reader, and Answer-Back mechanism  
re in parallel. They only become serialized when the distributor  
otates.
The most common problem with these machines is CONTACT BOUNCE.  
owever, sometimes the wire contacts will come out of their plastic  
uides.
 magnifying glass is helpful when examining the reader to look for  
issing springs, etc.  It is easier to see the contacts on the Answer- 
ack
ssembly and the Keyboard.  Most, if not all, M32,33 keyboard repair  
eeds to be made with the unit mounted in the base pan. M38 is a bit  
ifferent.

P.S. ALWAYS make sure if you are working on a new (to you) 32 or 33 to  
heck to make sure the shipping washer and screw have been removed.
his is a screw that holds the typing unit down to the base pan.  You  
an feel it by running your hand under the base pan or look under the  
yping unit code bars to be sure the hole in the frame is empty.
