[GreenKeys] Oops, I got an ASR-33, what is the best current practice for securing for shipment?

I agree with Don. first ship as two the 33 and the stand.

if I was shipping this is what I would do (and may be doing soon)

have the unit mounted on a piece of 3/8" plywood that is at least 1"
larger then the Lenght and Width
of the TTY.

then with a double wall corrugated (225 lb or better) box i would put
in a 1/2" minimum
piece of soft foam, the unit on its plywood bottom. I have shipping
foam that is made from foam
scraps

take a piece of 1x2 wood (actually about 3/4" x 1-1/2" or about) and
cut 4 or 6 pieces so that when placed
on the top of the plywood is 1" higher then the top of the TTY.

glue the pieces on the plywood one one each corner and two 1/2 from
left/right side placed at the back and
front.

cut another piece of shipping foam the size of the sheet of plywood
with cutouts where the 1x2s are, place
on top. also if you have some left over of softer pieces fill in the
space between the keyboard to top.

take another piece of plywood, can be 1/4" or use the rest of the 3/8"
and cut same size as the bottom,
glue to tops of the 1x2's and put in place.

lastly another piece of shipping foam, seal up the box call your
shipper, insure for $2,500 and pray.
