Aaron,
Attached are pictures of how I pack one up in a special crate. Separate the stand from the unit. Shipping of the stand is not too critical. Remove the feet if you can. You can pack all the accessories in the stand for easier shipping of the main unit. You only use sheet metal screws on the right sideof the 33 that go into the UCC-6 electronics. Mainly you use the 3 threaded ones you mention with the standoffs above the board. They go into the printer and hold it in place as well as the whole unit. Tricky to get them in, but use patience. Some units did have all sheet metal screws, but mostly early ones. Also tie the carriage to the left with a twister tie or pipe cleaner.
Looks like a nice unit.
73's,
Wayne

I sort of accidentally picked up this ASR-33 on ebay, looks kinda nice, I
or giggles I put $399 into my autobidder fully expecting it to go for, you
now, $2000 or something, but I guess I got unlucky and now I own it. Oops.

hat is the best current practice for securing the typing mechanism? Last
ime I played with one they seemed to be self-tapping screws, nothing
tandard worked well. So maybe a set of screws and some washers? I don't
ant him to over-tighten them and crush the unit down.
It's possible I have an original fiberboard here someplace, but there were I
hink some little round standoffs as well, sort of a little sleeve with a
lange at one end.
Does anyone have an original shipping mount they could lend me?
