Stan,
The link you gave for using the FT-1000MP is for the ST-8000 HAL, NOT the 
ST-8000A.  That is why I said the other day we need to be more specific 
(which you were with all but that link).  These two units are VERY 
different.  That is probably why the switch settings don't seem complete to 
you.  I haven't looked into the switch settings for the ST-8000A as yet, so 
can't comment much on that yet.
