Well then - let me throw the well-known monkey wrench into the works and
really confuse the deal.

Go to this site:

http://www.colorserver.net/

You can get "samples" of every standard color in the Federal Pallet. If
you click on the link at the bottom of the gray box on the (6) gray link
- it will give you a pallet of greys. You can click on one - and it will
show it to you. Click on that link again - pick another gray (or any
other color for that matter - and it will show you both. Pick as many
colors as you want to compare. Some things to keep in mind:

1) your monitor probably isn't calibrated - so the colors may not be
accurate.

2) your printer probably isn't calibrated either - however - if you find
a gray (or other color) you like - (as it prints on your printer) you
can have that analyzed at any color matching place (Lowes, HomeDepot,
most car parts places that offer automotive paint, etc.).

3) If your monitor / printer is pretty close - that color number is the
Federal Standard color number (FS nnnnn) and most places can cross that
to either their closet pre-mixed color - or mix it exactly.

Most major paint manufacturers want to be FS compatible (Have
ready-made colors that match (at least some) of the colors- since that's
how gubmint people are supposed to get paint colors.

And you just thought you were getting this figured out!!!

best!!!
