It is, unfortunately, mostly true :(
Ebay now REQUIRES sellers to offer PayPal as ONE of the payment
methods accepted! (Not the only one, though).
I was going to sell some stuff last night and got all the way
through creating the listing, uploading pics, and then found that
out... I will NEVER use PayPal again after they ripped me off for
$140 back around 2001 (I did get the money back with much changing
of accounts, writing letters to attorneys general, etc).
So I put the stuff on Craigslist instead ;)
