Thanks so much for the kind words.
We older gentlemen in most cases are still kids inside, and kids
gotta have their toys.
One time when I had WA9XHN/WC2XPF on the air I did a run focusing on
a Boy Scout Jamboree being held at Fort Lewis, Washington.
I supplied a 28, a receiver and TU, and a generator to run it all.
(And several rolls of multi-copy paper)
I stayed home and ran the news and features which were pretty well
aimed at scouting, campfire recipes, songs, etc., and my buddy from
work was at the wing-ding.
He said the kids were absolutely fascinated that it could be done
over radio that you could hear, and were blown away when the machine
was opened up and they could see this mechanical marvel doing its
thing hour after hour with no let-up, error, or other mechanical
malfunction.
Someday these clunkers will be naught but memories, and that is sad.
Early fire-control computers were mechanical. Calculators were once
mechanical. And they all WORKED!!!
Have a Very Fruitful and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
73,
George - W7TTY
