[GreenKeys] sound deadening

At one time Teletype Corp. employed a tailor, whose job was to design the
fabric-covered felt pads used inside the cabinets. I did some looking
into felt a while back, as someone needed a felt pad to go under a
machine. You can get it from McMaster-Carr, but you have to be careful
what you ask for. There are different grades, so for a given thickness
you get more or less fiber per square foot. Also they were specified
in a funny way, seems like if you looked for "length" rather than for
"width" you got a better price.

Then I told the friend to try around some places that deal in horse
supplies, since they probably use felt for saddle blankets and other
purposes around horses, and might be more readily available.

Someone has mentioned the glass fiber stuff used in the bottom of
Model 28s for a while; and I'm glad someone has told us about
airplane sound insulation. I've also seen 28s with felt in the
bottom of the cabinets. And someone mentioned that plastic foam stuff
that Teletype used for a while, that crumbles to dust. I remember
we had some similar stuff used for air filters on top of DEC computer
cabinets, with similar results. I got replacements from an air filter
supply company. Don't know if they held up better.

On one cabinet I'm trying some quilting batting from WalMart. Polyester.
I see they also have foam in the sewing section.
