I've successfully used a sound-dampening material for aircraft that is a
closed-cell, non-absorbant oil, solvent and fire-proof material. It's
available from Aircraft Spruce in various thicknesses, with or without
adhesive backing. Search their website www.aircraftspruce.com for part

I had some left over from my aircraft project, and completely relined the
interior case of a 28ASR using the non-adhesive version with Pliobond
adhesive glue (also from Aircraft Spruce). Works great.
