Sounds like a 207C rotary dial, single digit, Bell System intercom part.
Adding a 216A relay bank gave two digit dialing.

The dial brought the stepper to the station dialed, sent a pulse of ring
voltage in the meantime a capacitor was charging causing the reset pulse to
be sent to the reset magnet thus resetting the stepper to the initial
position....or something like the 207C :>)
