Charles:

Those relays are certainly magnetic "memory" relays. They rely upon the core
being a magnetic memory type of iron very permeable, and with long lasting
magnetic memory. The chemistry of the nickel iron makes the difference.

The relays could have been used in any application where you needed to have a
"power down" survival scenario.

The old core memories of the IBM 7090 days comes to mind.

These memories, would hold their "data" during a complete power outage. And
when the system came back up, you just asked for a restart, and the system
continued to compute from where it left off.

we now call that type of solid state memory "ROM" or WORM (write once, read
many times)

I assume you have an application for those relays, they were indeed the best
built signal relays in the world. Gold or platinum/silver contacts.

I regret the day that I walked by two (at the scrap yard) full 7' racks
populated with 111c western electric repeater coils. Must have been 400 coils.
Had I not been dumb and stupid, I would have purchased the entire ton or so, and
would still be selling them for $100 each? On Ebay.

take care, and 73's for now
