BTW, it just occurred to me (after reading RATTs and RTTY in subject lines
for the past few days) that some of the newer members may not know that RATT
(from RAdio TeleType) is the military acronym and RTTY (from Radio TeleTYpe) the
civilian one for the same mode. I've always assumed that RTTY was pushed by
some DA (and I don't mean Deparment of the Army) civilian with an early sense
of mis-guided political correctness (RATT having negative connotations ("rat"
being a negative in all usages in English except for "rat now!" (meaning
immediately))). Does anyone know who coined "RTTY" and why, given that "RATT" was
well established?
