Well, I guess I started something. I hope no one was offended. I have
enjoyed the challenge of working on all the Teletype machines that have come into
my life.
I forgot to mention that I also worked on Western Union clocks and the early
fax machines. I forget the model number. They were transceivers and in
receive mode burned the message with a stylus onto special paper. They sent with a
focused light. I believe they had to go thru Western Unions central office
to work. I will think of the model number after I send this message.
I like 28's the best of the old stuff, but my favorite and most worked on
machine has to be the 33 ASR as computer terminal or TWX and also as J&L machine
tool editor.
I just finished re-furbishing a 33 ASR this week. It challenged me with a
lot of problems, but was worth the trip.
Thanks to all for the comments.
Regards,
Wayne
