Hi Folks,

I got a request to measure the decibel noise level of a Teletype
machine. I'm not sure what the proper way to measure noise levels
is. Is there anyone on this list who might be able to help out?




    Dear Mr. Minsky,

    If I were to send you a DB meter could you measure it for me?

    The reason I am asking is that I am a veteran who is filing a
    service connected disability claim with the VA for Tinnitus
    caused by the noise of working in the worlds largest torn
    tape relay center (1966-1969) at RAF Chicksands.  We had
    hundreds of these machines in a closed concrete facility
    along with several hundred page printers and tape distributors.

    The VA contends that my occupational specialty doesn't
    indicate exposure to a high noise source.  I say otherwise.

    Any help would be appreciated.
