Kb0wil , kb0ecf and k0dfw had a great time. Made many a good deals in
the flea market. We stock up on essentials for the upcomng year. K0dfw
bought alot of tools and supplies for his taxidermy shop. K0dfw went all
the way to Dayton Hamvention to buy a new linear amp and before I bought
one made a deal with Ny0t on the floor in the front of the dealer I was
preparing to buy a new one and purchased a amp putting out twice the
wattage with alot better tubes for finals and for half the price of the new
one. Only one hitch. Had to drive back to Missouri to pick it up. But
the shipping was "free"! Couldn't of worked out better. Made a bunch of
new friends just sitting around and starting up conversations with other
hams out there. You never know who is sitting next to you. Some really
nice people. The weather for Dayton was excellent. Had about 3
rain drops fall on me the whole time. The crowd was well dispersed
between the indoor exhibitors and the outdoor ones. Had a excellent
crowd. If I was to guess I would say it was up a little in attendance
dispite high gas prices. N9jf was doing his bird watching again this
year and I watched another ham from another country taking pictures of
"robins" on the golf course next door and was amazed at the bird. He had
a American ham leading around and taking pictures of different birds ! I
saw my first ham from China , and if was a lady. I should have ran
her down and set up a schedule for a contact but I figured she might
have me arrested for a stalking. Our phones was out in our motel ,
due to a lightning strike before we got there. So at 5:30 am I was
tapping cw through the wall to the next room and asking if N9jf ,his
brother and Fred kb0wil where ready to go. We communicate anyway we
can. Hams can adapt to any condition! Over all had a ball and have my
reservations in for our rooms next year.
