Hi Pete,
The very early FT-101s came from the factory with 11 meters enabled. Later
ones were disabled a very high-tech method called a jumper wire. This short
brown jumper was wired between wafer 8 and wafer 9 of the band switch, in
the 11 meter postion, and should be visible through the "window" in the
shield covering the bottom of the bandswitch. Access can be obtained by
turning the rig upside down and remove the bottom cover. The window is a
little less than halfway from the front panel to the rear apron over the
bandswitch. In the manual, the illustration showing the bottom view refers
to the window as T-105. All that need be done is to cut the jumper. CBers
refered to this as "cutting the ambilical cord".
I suspect that you have a rather "rare" FT-101EE, as I have never personally
seen one that did not already have the jumper cut, Hi Hi, including mine.
You shouldn't have to align anything except maybe to touch up TC-20 for the
12 meter crystal.
73 and God Bless.
