Jim,
The reason they will not accept the Manufacturer's packaging as sufficient is
that the manufacturers can self indemnify against damage, and that is cheaper
for the manufacturere. I ran into this while shipping audio equipment back for
warranty. It makes sense if ;you think about it... the manufacturer can self
indemnify, and save a LOT of money compared to the few damage claims they must
fix, whereas UPS can't do that for your one package.
Yep, it is a pain in the ass, but understandable... Just look at the claims at
Christmas time.
