The Radio Club of Tacoma is celebrating it's 90th year in operation.
During this week... the club station will be open to make contact on
most bands. see www.w7dk.org and follow the links.
On Wednesday evening, Oct 18, starting at approx 5:00 PM, PDT. That's
0000 HRS UTC on Thursday, Oct 19... The Radio Club of Tacoma's Antique
Radio Museum will be operating the OLD OAK RIG... an old XTAL controlled
pre WWII bread board chassis AM rig, but operating CW. The station will
be using a very old unknown brand straight key and a vibroplex bug.
See: http://www.w7dk.org/museum.htm for a photo.
The receiver used with the Old Oak Rig will be a pre WWII Hammarlund HQ
120X that has been beautifully restored.
Listen for Morel, W6LIX (AKA Fist of Steel)and the distinctive
chirpy-buzzy sound of W7DK/90 on or around 7.050 MHz. BTW... Morel is
the longest licensed ham in the Tacoma area - licensed in 1932 as 6LIX
(in CA) when he was 12 years old.
The operating event organizers say there is a QSL/Cerfificate for those
who make contact with W7DK/90.
Hope to work you.... de Rich KR7W FISTS NR 9996
