500 kc/s SPECIAL EVENT STATION FROM ITALY

Dear Radiomen,

>From the 3rd to the 5th of November from QTH LA SPEZIA will be active on HF 
amateur bands a special radiostation with callsign IY1SP/500KCS to 
commemorate the first International Conference of Radiocommunications
(Berlin Novembre 1906), during this conference 19 Countries signed a final 
act on wich was established the use of 500 kHz as distress and calling 
frequency and was confirmed the use of "SOS" signal like international 
distress signal.

LA SPEZIA is the place were MARCONI conducted his first experiments with the 
Italian Navy for the use of W/T at sea. Calling frequencies will be around 
3520, 7020, 14020... ect ... special QSL card via the buro or QSL Manager
