Hello everyone, here are some notes from the Monday night Club meeting:
The meeting was called to order at 7:30pm with 20 members and guests in
attendance. Minutes from the previous meeting and the treasurer's report were
read and accepted.
Committee reports follow...
Field Day: We had much discussion on Field Day 2014, which will be summarized in
a separate letter. Look for that shortly!
Education: The VE Team reported the May 31 testing session had 5 in attendance,
issuing 2 upgrades to General and 3 new Technician licenses. The next testing
session is scheduled for June 28th, Field Day weekend.
Repeater Committee: K8LI has purchased a spare Kenwood Repeater, identical to
our current system, which will be put into service at the backup location. He
stated he may bring it out to our Field Day site for the benefit of anyone who
has not seen a repeater system. After Field Day it will be put into service.
KB8ELG reports the additional surface mount components are in for the PA unit,
and hopes to have repairs complete soon, and the main repeater site back to 50
watts of power.
Memorial Committee: No report.
Members in Distress: A Get Well card was passed around and signed for Doyle,
Bernath (W8TGC), who has been experiencing health issues.
EC Report: K8JPD has again asked for participation into forming an EC program to
coordinate with county officials. After the last meeting, we only had a handful
of responses. We would at least like to have 6 club members, and are at 4 who
have answered the survey. Any club member who is interested in participating is
asked to fill out the online survey at http://k8bxq.org/tmp/ECForm.php
Membership: We have 47 members up to date on dues so far. Thank you for your
continued support.
T-Shirt Committee: No report.
Hamfest Committee: The Hamfest this past June 7th was a success. The club took
in $264 after all expenses. A lot of the organizational ideas to improve
traffic flow and setup were well received, and we enjoyed a fairly good turnout
with more trunk sales this year. No further info on the December Hamfest yet,
but expect planning to ramp up after Field Day.
Good of Amateur Radio:
1. Field Day is approaching fast at 12 days out. Look for a separate email
discussing all topics from the meeting tonight.
