Below is an email I received very recently from the new  Assistant Skywarn 
Coordinator for Sub-nets for the National Capital Area Support  Group -- 
Baltimore/Washington Weather Forecast Office.  Frederick County  MARYLAND is a 
subnet of that organization.  Primarely, Richard (KE4AJL) is  asking the Net 
Control Station of the net to send an e-mail to  _skywarnwx4lwx at gmail.com_ 
(mailto:skywarnwx4lwx at gmail.com)  to make  the Watch Desk aware of the net's 
operation.  Please also e-mail when the  net is closed.  If you have any

Good  Afternoon,

As you are aware Tim Dennison AI4TD has succeeded Virginia Legowik AK4EA as 
the  Skywarn Coordinator for the National Capital Area Skywarn Support 
Group  (Baltimore / Washington WFO). Some changes in assignments for the 
Assistant  Coordinators have resulted. Tim has assigned me as the Assistant Skywarn 
 Coordinator for Subnets. My name is Richard Morani KE4AJL. I have been 
with the  Skywarn Program for about three years after 25 years as an active 
Operational  Volunteer Firefighter in Fairfax County, over 10 years as a ham 
and currently  hold a General Class License. I look forward to working with 
you. 

The  National Weather Service Baltimore/Washington has been very pleased 
with the  reports and information that has been passed to them by the Skywarn 
spotters and  Net Control Stations. However NWS has requested some 
additional information from  us. The first they would like to know which of the 
subnets are active and  operating during a particular weather event. Second the 
Desk Operators at WX4LWX  often get requests from NWS personnel for 
additional information from a  particular subnet zone. Since WX4LWX is unable to hear 
or reach most of the  subnets by radio the Desk Operator needs the ability 
to contact an NCS in that  subnet to obtain the requested information. 

To facilitate these requests  I have two requests for you. The first to 
provide me with a roster of the NCS  for your subnet with Call Sign, Name, 
telephone numbers (home, cell, work, as  appropriate) and email address. The 
second is to send an email to _skywarnwx4lwx at gmail.com_ 
(mailto:skywarnwx4lwx at gmail.com)  when you  activate your subnet with the start time and who the 
NCS will be by call sign.  Please also send me an email when the subnet is 
secured. This way I can provide  the information to NWS and the Desk Operators.
