If I may interject from down here in PG County.
We have the same issue with intermod and mixing at our EOC, we would
hear several amateur repeaters on several frequencies across the band,
but the problem was not with the repeaters or their transmitters. The
issue was the open front end (i.e. receives DC to Daylight) on the
amateur band radios used as well as a local taxi transmitter over
driving the front end and the mixing byproduct of the taxi transmitter
keying up at the same time other amateur repeaters were in use cause
the amateur repeaters to come across on other frequencies.
When we approached the taxi company, they had their technician contact
us and he checked their system. It was well with-in spec and had no
spurs anywhere. So the fix for our issue was two pronged. Approach
one, was to use commercial grade (motorola, kenwood and icom) radios
programmed to the amateur VHF frequencies we had programmed for
permanent use. Approach number two was to put a filter on the amateur
band radios used by VFO on VHF. Both of these took care of our issues
down here.
May be the same issue up there, may not....just some food for thought.
