[FARC] FM Packet

Kirk,

The one packet I know of is on 145.09 and it has my call on it and a small
bulletin board but it will do to help you get used to how packet works and
it is located at the site of the other FARG equipment. To connet to the
bulletin board use w3fdk-2 and to repeat through it use w3fdk-9,

Example, to connect try this when you get a packet program running, at the
command prompt type

c w3fkd-2 the c means connect and if all if well you should see
your radio transmitting and then receive from the w3fdk-2 packet.

you can disconnect by sending a disc from the command mode.
disc means disconnect

I looked at a manual of your radio today and it does have an rs-232 (
serial) connector on the back and I would assume that would work the
internal tnc.

Let me know if that makes sense and also, when you first bring up the packet
program with the serial cable attached to your radio and the computer you
should get some sort of info on the computer screen that would mean your
computer is talking to the radio. There are a lot more commands to use but
first see if you can get resonses from your radio to your computer and then
connect to a packet station.

My number is 301.831.1357 and I will be glad to work with you on the phone
while you try and connect as I can probably monitor your transmissions on my
packet station and verify what you are sending out so keep that in mind.

There should be packet traffic on 145.01, .03, .05, 07, .09 and then to see
if your are receiving 144.39 is APRS and there is usually a lot of traffic
there you can copy to verify that part is working.

I am sure others will have much more info to add.

Take care,

Rolan
