The problem appears to be in ax25ipd the axip service. It is pretty rude and
crude anyhow. Portmapper works just fine, and indeed you will see it running
if you do a ps -A on the linux box.
The problem is that when ax25ipd starts it appears to read the domain once
and get the IP address it then looks like it cashes the ip address and no longer
tries to resolve the name to the address so when the address changes it still
tries to send udp packets to the old address. If I do a ssh or a ping
to Bill's box
from my linux console it will resolve it every time so the rest of it
is working just
fine.
