Has anyone used or looked into using the Motorola MSR-2000 as a packet
radio? I know that it is over kill but I have a chance to get a few to use
at the Fort Pierce EOC when the switch gets moved over there. We know that
we are going to need a strong link to get to WPB from here and it would be
nice if we were able to use the MSR plugged into the combiner there. This
would give us a RX at 500 feet and a TX over 400 foot. This should make the
trip down that way with being able to pump it up to 100 watts and not worry
about heat. We would need to leave it split as far as the RX and TX go and
just hook the tnc up to it and have it work as a normal radio. I have found
plenty of links to convert it to a ham repeater but I haven't found
anything that would help in using it for packet.
bud, You don't know how GREAT your talk went over down here. Greg went in
to work on Thursday and told the "bosses" about what we can do and they are
ALL for it. This is how getting the MSR-2000's came about.
Can you picture a FPAC switch with ALL MSR-2000 repeaters acting as packet
radios????!!!! This is what I'm kind of looking at right now.
I really need to know what needs to be done ASAP so I can get it to them as
these are going to come available soon and I want to jump right into it
when we can!!!
Enough for now!
Think about it .....
A: Because it messes up the order in which people normally read text.
Q: Why is top-posting such a bad thing?
A: Top-posting.
Q: What is the most annoying thing on usenet and in e-mail?
