Okay on the extra set of 441.05 Mitrek crystals.. I also have another set
here, so next time someone needs a 441.050 link we'll have crystals ready
for both ends!
Dan - By the way - we'll eventually need the Goldenrod UHF changed to
441.050. On the Goldenrod digi - IF (big IF) we do not need the Goldenrod
145.07 digi to cover W Orange County LAN from Taylor Creek Road, and IF (big
IF) we do not need the UHF digi at Goldenrod to get from Clermont to Taylor
Creek Road, we can abandon the Goldenrod site and use the gear elsewhere.
(Unless we want to keep it as a central LAN node in case Taylor Creek goes
down.)
Very important - Keep in mind... I can't set up a 2nd backbone on the
Orlando switch in Deltona (i.e. to Clermont and DeLand) until we actually
move the Orlando switch to Taylor Creek Road (or where ever) - no antenna
space /coax left on the crank-up tower here! So I can't support two UHF
backbone frequencies here at the house. (Hummm... now that I've said that I
may be able to get to DeLand with the lower (55 ft) vertical...
What UHF radio is at the Goldenrod digi? If it can be put on 441.05, (or use
a spare Mitrek for which we have crystals) then let's move the Clermont to
Orlando UHF to 441.05 ASAP and we can have a small 441.05 WAN (Clermont,
Goldenrod, Deltona , DeLand). Then when I get the 430.250 radios/tncs set
up and Charlie and I move the Orlando gear to the new cabinet, I might be
able to move the Orlando/DeLand link to 430.250 before the physical move of
the Orlando switch. Best guess at all that is five weeks off, but would
sure be neat to have all that tuned, tested and working before we move
Orlando FPAC to Taylor Creek Rd. Once I know the Taylor Creek site is a
"go" I'll get the UHF beam at DeLand re-pointed to favor that.
We need a backbone from Clermont to Ocala even if it is at 1200b. 1200b is
better than zero baud. If you use the 223.42 WAN that will at least get
something going. Moving to 2400 would require Ocala to do the same and
right now all the 223.42 ports are at 1200b. Once we have so much traffic
moving both ends of Ocala / Clermont would have to come up with a new
backbone plan.
Greg WE0D in Summerville is about 60-70% of the way to Ocala from
Clermont. His antennas are all inside the attic if memory serves. Unless
WE0D acts only as a digi - my guess is the added antenna height at Ocala
will be worth going after.
Because of the antenna population density at Clermont, we may have to
backbone from DeLand to Ocala - we'll know more about all that once we have
the network upgraded as we are headed now.
I recommend we move the Clermont LAN frequency when we install the FPAC
computer at Clermont if not sooner. We've done a lot of testing on 145.07
at Clermont and are getting the coverage we intended (and more!), and still
have to move to the DB-224. (You might do that first for a while on
145.07 )... We need to get the word out in Lake County there is a new LAN
and it should be on the new LAN frequency. (We already have a good
potential user who just put his tower up!)
Naw.. we aren't doing this for just one user - but we'll take them one at a
time.
When can we get that computer up here? I'll be around all day today and
tomorrow - in fact will probably go to Skyjunk this afternoon if you are
going to be in the vicinity.

Bud,
I already have a mitrek crystalled up on 441.050 mhz, so we have a spare
pair of rocks. I will get up to the Clermont site this week and get the
antenna swapped so the 441.050 points toward Orlando. Probably will wait
until we have the link in place to the Orlando LAN before I change the 2
meter LAN freq in Clermont.
Russ,
There are no antennas for 220 packet at the Clermont site, I might try a mag
mount in the window of the equipment room. Is the station in Summerville
already on 220 @ 1200 baud? We need to at least use 2400 baud, if we use
220. An extra radio, TNC, etc is not worth the effort to backbone traffic
from 1200 baud to another 1200 baud giving no improvement in speed. I may
have an extra 2400 baud modem for/with a MFJ TNC but let me double check in
my garage.
Thanks,
Dan

Bud you are correct. I had suggested a frequency for Clermont to Ocala, but
I have not heard back from Charles in Ocala and I think Dan had difficulty
with my suggestion due to the repeater at the same location on UHF.
It may be that the link from Clermont to Ocala will need to be on 220.
I am not sure there still is thinking of a Arcadia to Clermont link if there
is a Bartow.
I have not heard anything from Arcadia regarding the questions I posed or
the suggested frequency range.

Sunday
Russ/Dan- We agreed to change the 441.05 now between ORL/DeLand to 430.250.
Then we would use 441.05 between Orlando and Clermont (rather than the
430.550). That makes the links across central Florida look like this which
is the last table I sent on this topic.
>From To Current Suggested
Daytona Deland 440.050 440.050 No Change
Deland Orlando 441.050 430.250
Orlando Clermont 430.550 441.050
Orlando Melbourne 446.125
Clermont Bartow 446.350 430.550
Clermont Ocala
Clermont Arcadia
Bartow Tampa 430.250 446.350
Now.. I'll have to purchase two sets of 430.250 crystals rather than one set
of 446.350, and will have a 441.050 set left w/o a home. Dan, can you use
the 441.05 in a Mitrek on your end of the Orlando/Clermont link? How do we
work this out w/o having too many extra crystals?
Or have I missed something?
Russ: check that table over again for all my links! Thanks.
Dan- are there any other crystals you want to put in with this FADCA order
I'm putting together?
