Be very careful with Linux and the Toshiba Satellite series portables. 
I have attempted several times to install RH and Mandrake on one and
have had quite a bit of difficulty. After some research on the web I see
that I have not been the only one and it indeed is very difficult to to,
not impossible but very difficult.
