>From your description it seems to me that whilst the resolution is correct
for your monitor, the refresh rate is not.
This is indicated by the image being offset to one side as you describe.
I dont know what the refresh rate is for the SVGA adaptor at 1920 x 1080 is
but I'll bet that it's not what your monitor needs or wants.
