Bob,

Look at the "Split Mode with the Sub receiver:" portion of the manual

As typical in split mode, you will transmit on VFO B and receive on VFO A.

Do not fall into the trap of mentally associating VFO A with the main 
and VFO B with the sub.  It is sometimes that way, but not always - 
consider that there is no transmit associated with the subRX, but there 
certainly is transmit associated with VFO B when in split.

If using the SubRX in diversity mode, split works the same as a K3 
without the sub, but if you are in non-diversity, there is no need for 
split - VFO A will be your TX frequency and VFO B will move the subRX to 
whatever frequency you want to listen to (the DX station).
