Robert,
My main station mic is on a gooseneck hanging down from an upper shelf on the desk. For PTT I picked up a Radio Shack black plastic "project box". It's about 2 inches square and an inch deep. In it I mounted an inexpensive SPST Momentary action switch and a shielded audio cable out 5 or 6 feet to the radio PTT connector. The box is attached to the operating desk with double sided tape, just to the right of my keyboard. I find it easy to reach and comfortable to hold down as my palm and wrist can rest on the desk while I hold the button down.
I run the PTT button box in parallel with a foot switch. Obviously you can omit the foot switch if you like, but I prefer the option.

Subject: [Elecraft] Alternate microphones for K3
I currently own the Elecraft MH2 mic and wish to replace it with the Audio-Technica ATR30 I purchased. Other than changing the BIAS and using an adapter so it will plug into the K3 back panel, I was wondering:
1. What microphone stands do you use?
2. What do you use for PTT?
I’m kind of leaning towards a desk stand (but not the ugly Heil CB-1). For PPT I’d rather not use a foot switch. Ideas?
