Hi all,
I am thinking about replacing the IC Mic in the Proset K2 with a HC-4.
My questing: Can I do this without any aditional things? Just solder out
the IC and solder in the HC-4? Or isn't it that simple? Of course with
no bias then...
However if it is that simple, what do you guys think? Would you
recommend this or is it better to leave the IC with the Proset K2 at the K3?

Frank,
I have a Proset K2 (IC) and a Proset 5 originally purchased for another
application. I can use both with either the K3 or the K2 (with an UN-PCB IMA for
quick changing the K2 bias).
I find both work well with either rig, giving a slight edge to the Proset K2
version.
In my opinion, one can always use an extra mic, I can handle the most
intricate of electronic surgery, but would rather not get into modifying a mic, and
would suggest buying the other one. I'm sure you could sell the least used
and get more than enough to make up for the difference. Maybe someone else
can answer the question, is all the electronics for the Proset K2 (IC) in the
mic boom? If so, maybe it would be appropriate to buy a boom assembly with
what you want, and make a swap, rather than modify?
