Ladies and Gents,
I have been reading with great amusement about toroids on the reflector. I dreaded the toroids when I got my K2, but found that they are very fun to build. I do not understand all the angst about this subject.
I found out quickly by doing several how to wind them, strip them, tin them and install them. The key is just doing it. Theycame out OK. The first ones were not perfect and I took them apart amd rebuidt them, but I enjoyed making them. My last ones look much better than my first ones. Yes, it is tedious but that is part of the joy of putting together the kit.
I am a very big guy with big hands and pop bottle type glasses. I still got the job done. Having the right tools helps (nerd glasses, magnifying lenses, long needle nose plyers) and so does taking your time, checking your work, and then rechecking your work.
In fact, I have gone through toroid withdrawl. I have since recovered. Not to minimize those people who have gone through the pain of AA...but...Hi, I'm Lee and I am a recovering toroid winder.
