[Elecraft] K2 LCD Backlight Installation

Its been over two years since I built my first K2 and I don't remember the 
details of the LCD backlight (defuser) installation.  I am at the point of 
installing the LCD assembly on my new K2, but I have noticed the backlight assembly 
has what appears to be a loose white film on the front side.  I don't want to 
install the LCD assembly on top of the backlight assembly before I know if 
the white plastic film is to come off the front of the backlight assembly. The 
instructions state: "Locate the LCD backlight assembly, which is about 3" 
(7.5cm) long.  It includes the defuser and two small LEDs, one at each end.  Do not 
remove the backing from either side of the diffuser."
There is nothing in the instructions that says to remove this loose white 
film.  Maybe the instructions are referring to leaving the backing on the left 
and right sides of the backlight assembly where the diffusers are.  I would
