Kevin, that would be my first guess. I haven't noticed what you describe on
my K1, but then I changed RF-C31 to 1 uF very shortly after building my K1
in late 2000. I think a .47 uF C31 might even be better. I don't know what
the rationale is behind having such slow AGC action as is caused by the 2.2
uF in the stock design.
You might want to use the menu to turn off the AGC to see if that lends
credibility to you diagnosis.
