The annual Stew Perry Topband Distance Challenge only requires that the
Maidenhead grid square be exchanged. Nobody has a problem with this
because they are prepared to receive this rather than a preamble such as
"5NN".
If the EQP exchange did not require an RST, everyone would be prepared to
receive the other operator's name first.
The ARRL Sweepstakes also does not require an RST and nobody seems to
have a problem with that.
