This is only part of the problem.  The fact is that even with an 
external keyer (I use the Logikey K3), the K2's weighting is not 
constant -- there is a variation that is related to the activity of the 
K2 processor.  This can be clearly seen by sending 30 wpm dits with a 
dual-trace scope hooked to the key input and either the RF output or 
sidetone.  If you listen to it, it sounds like this: 
didididididiDIdidididididiDIdididi, etc.

Another experiment is this:  while sending 30 wpm dits, activate RIT and 
turn the RIT pot back and forth.  You will notice a significant decrease 
in weight (weight = dot:space ratio).
