That's what the spex say.=20
Y'know, ever since I fired up my first rig consisting of a 6L6 tube and =
an
80-meter crystal, I've kept a spare "final" around. That's still true =
today
with a set of final PA transistors for the K2 on hand.=20
Not that I need them very often. The other day digging around in my =
parts
box I ran across an envelope with a transistor in it marked "Spare Final =
-
HW-8". I built that HW-8 in 1976! Never needed the spare.=20
Still, the "finals" are the part of the rig that is usually under the =
most
stress when it's worked "hard" and having spares on hand ensures that =
I'm
not shut down unexpectedly until new parts arrive.=20
Elecraft designs have lots of margin. I ran a number of heat stress =
tests
with my K2/100 when FT-ing John Grebenkemper's temperature compensation =
mod
to stabilize the local oscillator. I got the K2/100's top cover heat =
sink so
hot I didn't want to leave my hand on it at least two dozen times while
running measurements of the drift.=20
All with no ill effects.=20

Hi All,
So is the bottom line that its ok to run the K2 at 5 Watts on PSK31 =
and
not to worry about the length of the transmissions?
I too have purchased the SSB module with the intention of running psk =
and
really too interested in SSB.
Thanks for clarifying this
