[Elecraft] transistors explained

Tnx for many many replies already! wow you guys sound like your ready =
for another round.  Now that I got the difference bewteen FETS and =
Bipolar Transistors down lets try signal generators we can end the =
transistor thread.  I dont want to be responsible for one of those all =
month threads!

Theirs an Elenco signal generator I want.  One its for AM but I assume =
this is fine for SSB.  Also are their signal generators for FM radios or =
would I just use a 2 meter radio to set a another one.  On =
TEquipment.net where I ordered all my recent Hakko soldering equipment =
(808 on the way tnx N0SS) they have a few signal generators from diff =
manufacturers but they all look the exact same.  Would anyone reccomend =
the ones that have frequency counters built in?  What do you basically =
look for in a good frequency counter and signal generator for general =
ham use? by the way I have an xg 1 on back order, but would like a bench =
one too.
