Tom,

Yes, you can buy different magnification lenses for the
Optivisor. If you look at the chart on the following URL, you will see the
different size lens plates available (at $18.95 each) along with a picture
of what they look like:

The DA5 lens that I purchased first comes into focus when the object
I'm viewing is no more than 7 inches from the front of the OptiVisor. The
chart says the DA5 has a "working distance" of 8 inches but I guess that is
if your eyes are in good shape. The front of the OptiVisor lens is about 3
inches from my eyeball so that means my eye is about 10 inches from the
work. I would like this same amount of magnification but would like the
distance to be greater. Sometimes it is a pain to keep leaning forward to
see the close-up stuff but I guess you can't have everything.

If I had it to do over again I might go with the DA4 lens at 2.0
power but that only adds 2-inches to the working distance so I will
probably keep what I have. I would still use the Optiloupe which adds
another 2.5X for really close work. The Optiloupe just mounts in one of the
holes that holds the removable lenses and is held in place by spring
tension either up out of the way or in line with one of the lenses. Works
great and lets you see the REALLY small stuff quite well!
