[Elecraft] FL1 OP1 ssb filter

Hi

You may have the upper or lower or both sidebands on the wrong side of =
the filter. A quick test is tune to 4000.600 LSB and you should hear the =
4 MHz MPU clock as a 600 HZ tone. You should be able to cycle through =
the filters and the tone should not change or change very little. Now =
change to USB and tune to 3999.400 and repeat the test on all of the =
filters. You should hear the same 600 Hz tone. If the tone goes away on =
any of these tests then you most likely have the BFO set to the wrong =
side of the filter.=20

If you want to check the CW filter select CW and set the VFO to =
4000.000. Then cycle through the filters and you should hear the same =
600 Hz tone assuming a 600 sidetone on both the normal and reverse =
modes. If one or more of the filter settings dose not have the tone then =
check the BFO frequencies. All of the LSB should be in the 4913 range =
the USB should be in the 4916 range. The CW settings should be in the =
4913 range for CW normal and in the 4916 range for CW reverse.=20

The above test is a good final check after going through the filter =
alignment. Remember you must change the BFO frequency to force the =
firmware to recalculate the offset so even if you are not changing the =
frequency you will need to move it off of the correct frequency and then =
back for each filter.

Subject: [Elecraft] FL1 OP1 ssb filter

I need some help- I aligned my filters with Spectrum Analyzer ( I'm a=20
mac guy) and the cw filters came out right on the money where I want=20
them (600Hz sidetone). The problem is with FL1 OP1 on SSB- when I use=20
this to listen to LSB, it's very muddy and pinched, but if I cycle to=20
  FL 2,3 & 4 ( at 2.2, 1.8 & 1.6 widths) it's fine. I can adjust FL1=20
'past' OP1, but as I understand it that's not the right way to do it-=20
it should stay at OP1 as a fixed filter. I'm wondering if I'm seeing=20
a problem with the fixed filter on the ssb board, or am I missing=20
something? I seldom use ssb; just thought it shouldn't be this way.=20
  Any thoughts?
