fyi, consensus (6 or 7 emails) seemed to be
if you want to swap back and forth from a QRP to the 100W version of the K2,
then mounting the
KPA100 (and KAT100) in a seperate EC2 is the way to go. Most (not all) who
responded found swapping the lids tedious, and dangerous (possibly dropping
a heavy lid into the K2)
Jim K4ZM wrote "going
from QRO to QRP just involves disonnecting the rf cable and the data cable
and resetting the KAT2 to the auto mode. When you have them connected with
the data cable the K2 MCU senses the KAT100 and automatically puts the KAT2
in the CalP mode and selects Antenna1.This bypasses the KAT2 when the KAT100
is connected to the Aux Bus. When you seperate them you have to return to
the menu and select the auto mode for the KAT2. ...no changes to the K2
except to
replace an rfc with a small toroid to increase the current capacity on he
12CTRL line. If you do not have the KIO2 in your K2 you will have to
purchase the interface board and it connectors to connect the data line to
the rear connector of the K2."
Thanks guys!
