Well with this configuration you don't have to swap lids to go QRP 
(assuming you have the ATU &/or battery options in the lid )

You are also able to put the KAT100 in the same EC2 box and stick both of 
them some place else to free up some shack space. My K2/100  +KAT100 is 
done this way and it works just fine but I did have the Kio2 fitted to my 
K2 already which makes the interfacing with this combination 
straightforwards. I see no drawbacks to this configuration.
