There's no problem at all building a K1 two-band filter board for 17m as
band 1 and 15m as band 2.
I'm assuming you don't already have a K1 right now when I make the
suggestion that you consider building a four-band model if you want both 17m
and 15m.
Even though it has never been stated in Elecraft K1 documentation, the K1
four-band board in reality allows 40m, 30m, and your choice of any TWO of
20m, 17m, or 15m. You just install the included 17m components in place of
where the 20m components would go for band 3, and build band 4 for 15m. The
K1 documentation states in contrast that it allows 40m, 30m, 20m, and your
choice of any ONE of 17m or 15m, but that is inaccurate and understates the
versatility of the KFL1-4 board. (This info has been confirmed by Wayne.)
Were I in charge of marketing, I believe I'd point this feature out.
So if for some reason you didn't care for 20m coverage as much as 17m *and*
15m coverage, you could get a K1 that could cover both 17m and 15m, while
also allowing 40m and 30m.
As one who has had the K1 in both the two-band-only and the four-band
configuration, I can't describe how much more useful the K1 has been with
four bands.
