Bob,

You have them correct.  in both cases, the '103' and '104' part of the
numbering are the digits indicating the value.  The other numbers are
manufacturer designations, wattage/temperature ratings, and resistor/pin
configuration information.

If you look at a lot of part numbers knowing the value of the parts, you can
soon see the patterns.  For those who want to persue that exercise, look at
the manufacturer's part numbers listed in a catalog, like DigiKey and others
that usually show the manufacturer's number rather than the parts house
stock numbers.
