[Elecraft] Any satisfied MP-1 owners?

Ron,

I have had an MP-1 for about 1 year.
I have made an extra bottom rod, 3'6" long, to move the loading coil up the
antenna for when I had the head room.
I also bought the 80 meter coil.
I have made DX contacts with that and the basic K2 by use of judicious
timing.
The loading coil assembly has a finger stock inside it, and I do an initial
tune for maximum noise before trying to tune for best SWR.
I've used the supplied counterpoise (made from ribbon cable), a ground using
an aluminium (English spelling!) tent stake and cut-to-length radials using
different coloured powerpole connectors.
I would *never* use it mobile - not strong enough - but it lends itself to
stationary portable use as in camping.

IMHO, it's better that the ATX and outbacker antenna's but not as handy as
Hustler or Hamstick mobile antennae, but then they do not have the one
antenna - multiple band capability of the MP-1. (Naturally, it does 30M and
every other band they have between 80 and 6M)

YMMV and I have no financial interest in Vern's operation - just a
fascination with little things :-)
