I agree. Someone will probably argue that "if that's what you want, why not
just use an SGC." But having used one, I can vouch that it's not nearly as
convenient as using a tuner that changes the tuning as you switch from band
to band without requiring you to transmit. I switched to using the KAT2 for
that very reason, but it was only practical for me because there is only
about 2.5m of co-ax between the radio and my attic-mounted loop. If I had
outside antennas it wouldn't be sensible because of the feeder losses
involved.

By the way, I have some charts showing losses for several types of feeder
on my web site at www.qsl.net/g4ilo/mismatch_losses.html. I didn't produce
the spreadsheets they were derived from, but they seemed so relevant to my
discussion of using a nonresonant antenna that I thought it was worth
including them on my site.

I second the motion for this option for the K2 to remotely mount the

I wonder how long a control line anyone has gotten away with so far? Most
K2's
are not used in a field with a longwire hanging out the back, so it doesn't

make
sense to have a wide range tuner available only at the radio. Most of us
like to run coax to a remote tuner if the geography is not amenable to a
balun
and
open wire or ladder line. I think SGC has created a whole industry on this

concept . . .
