[Elecraft] Elecraft technology

There's been a lot of interesting input here. Let me try to summarize by
suggesting what one could call the enabling technologies.

The first I would say is affordable and powerful PIC processors. They
make it possible with the distributed processor architecture, the lack
of cabling, all the features of the user interface, the
self-calibration, and the built-in measurement tools. All of which are
crucial in making the K2 possible to build as a kit for most hams.

As a second enabling technology, I would suggest, the advent of circuit
simulation. This seems to me to be one of the factors that has made it
possible to optimize circuitry and strike a better balance between price
and performance than the Swan, Drake, and Atlas rigs of similar
architecture had in the 60's and 70's.

And finally the internet's role in creating a user community despite
distances. I am a good example of that, as I have actually only met one
other K2 owner face to face in my 2 years of owning #2198.
