[Elecraft] K2/Elecraft Kudos

I have been playing with my K2 and really enjoying
it.

I got a big warm and fuzzy today when I set a new
Icom R-75 up next to my K2 to do a receiver
comparison. It seems (so far) that on the ham
bands the little K2 is every bit as sensitive as
the store bought R-75. And, and it's probably
just coincidence and I'm not sure that it means
all that much but I got a BIG kick out of this,
tuning in two SSB signals, they both showed up on
the same place on the dial, to the last digit,
with the pitch of the received voices being
identical. Wowza. The reason I got the big kick
is that my K2 was calibrated during construction
by reference only to the frequency readout on a
Yacht Boy 400 (which was receiving the weak
signal from the K2's oscillator). No skill on my
part to be sure, just luck and a good kit design.

Second, I had to dive into the construction manual
for my aging Heath HW-101 in making some repairs
to that unit. Gave me the opportunity to compare
the Elecraft K2 construction manual to the Heath
manual. Maybe it's because I just completed the
K2, but, my impression was that the Elecraft
manual is even better written than the (very
good) Heath manual.

Just wanted to let the Elecraft folks who follow
this mail list know how much fun I had putting
together my K2 (took it slow so I had a couple of
months of fun) and how pleased I am with the
results. I am looking forward to building future
Elecraft kits.
