Hi,
This talk abt 15kHz hor. osc. in TV sets.
I think it is wrong.
Perhaps long time ago with tubes in the power amp of the hor deflection.
I think it is the picture on the picture tube, videofrequences, that are
heard and may be modulated by 15kHz.
This picturevideo varies with the content of the picture.
A snowy screen gives the most QRM.
Then all the switched powersupplies in the TV or elsewhere gives a lot of
noise.
May be this short wire picks noise better than no wire from our own
K2's different stages.
But as a whole I think the K2 birdies are very low.

Paul,
It certainly sounds like your 'birdies' are actually externally generated
signals - real birdies will be heard with the antenna disconnected. I would
be inclined to look to a TV - TV horizontal oscillator radiation will appear
about every 15 kHz and is quite noticable on 160 and 80 meters - if it is
your own TV, you can turn it off, but if it is a neighbors - well, you do
what you can!
